After purchasing a project site and developing a building plan, you must apply for a building permit. A building permit is an administrative decision required to commence and carry out construction or building works.

You have to file a request with the poviat starost’s office or with the city office of a city with poviat rights; for some projects, a request is filed with the voivodship office.

The project may commence only once a building permit is obtained. A building permit is valid for 3 years as of the effective date of the decision.
