From 6–8 May, the Warmiński Hotel & Conference in Olsztyn hosted another edition of the “Open for the DACHL Countries” conference, organised as part of the “Economic Promotion of Warmia and Mazury 2024+” project. The event was dedicated to entrepreneurs interested in developing business cooperation with partners from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. This year’s edition brought together nearly 60 entrepreneurs from Warmia and Mazury and the DACHL countries.

Discussions on Opportunities, Knowledge Exchange and Networking

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the export potential of the region, the characteristics of German-speaking markets, and the opportunities for building long-term business relationships based on quality, reliability and mutual trust.

Participants had the opportunity to hear from business experts and practitioners, who shared their knowledge of current economic trends, the specifics of international cooperation, and practical tools supporting international expansion.

The programme also included dedicated networking sessions and opportunities for direct exchange of experiences—elements that often mark the beginning of valuable business relationships and future international projects.

“We are working to create opportunities for entrepreneurs from our region to establish contacts with international businesses, because our companies enjoy an excellent reputation. They offer European and global standards in both products and services,” said Piotr Burczyk, Director of the Department of Promotion Coordination.

For participating companies, the conference was an opportunity not only to establish new business contacts but also to exchange experiences and receive practical advice on operating in foreign markets.

“I believe events like this bring tremendous value to entrepreneurs, especially in our region, which may not be heavily industrialised but certainly has a great deal to offer. Opening up to these markets through mutual cooperation would benefit us all,” said Magdalena Kamińska from Zielarnia Warmińska.

“We are already present on international markets, and meetings like this, held in such a welcoming atmosphere, are among the few opportunities to meet our business partners in person. The Polish market currently offers many opportunities, but we should definitely remain open to Western European and broader European markets,” said Szymon Joć from INDYKPOL S.A.

The benefits of international cooperation are recognised not only by Polish entrepreneurs. Potential partners from German-speaking countries also see considerable business potential in Warmia and Mazury.

“We are a public enterprise. Salzburg and Olsztyn share certain similarities, including the size of the cities and their historic old towns. Even the parking challenges are quite similar, so I believe there is much we can learn from each other,” added Christian Mooslechner from Salzburger Parkgaragen Gesellschaft M.B.H.

“This conference, organised by the Self-Government of the Warmia and Mazury Region, gives us an opportunity to meet potential suppliers. We are looking for partners in the furniture industry. Warmia and Mazury has a long-standing tradition of furniture manufacturing, with many outstanding companies producing furniture sold all over the world. I hope to meet the right suppliers here today,” said Raimundas Pečiulis from XONOX HOME GmbH.

The “Open for the DACHL Countries” conference is just one of several initiatives helping businesses from Warmia and Mazury expand into international markets. Several similar events are planned throughout 2026, including the “Open for the Nordics” conference, scheduled for 17 June.

Warmia and Mazury continues to strengthen its position as a region open to international economic cooperation, supporting entrepreneurs in exploring new development opportunities and building a competitive advantage across European markets.
