The winning consortium consists of the Warsaw-based companies <strong>WSP Polska<\/strong> and <strong>WXCA GROUP<\/strong>. The winners named their project <strong>\u201cGateway to the Baltic\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investments in the port are possible thanks to successful negotiations with the <strong>European Commission<\/strong>, which agreed to allocate approximately <strong>PLN 200 million from the European Funds for Warmia and Mazury<\/strong> for this purpose. The works are scheduled to be completed by <strong>autumn 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Port Expansion and New Access Roads<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the concept, the terminal on <strong>ul. Radomska<\/strong> will be expanded by <strong>0.5 hectares<\/strong>, and on a site of about <strong>30 hectares on ul. \u017bytnia<\/strong>, a completely new terminal with a <strong>rail siding<\/strong> will be built. The works will be carried out in <strong>three stages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first stage covers approximately <strong>17 hectares<\/strong> and includes the construction of a <strong>quay<\/strong> and the necessary supporting infrastructure \u2013 administrative buildings, rail siding, and the first section of <strong>truck parking<\/strong>. The concept also allows for the construction of a <strong>port basin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase of the port expansion is estimated to cost <strong>PLN 100 million<\/strong>, while upgrading the access roads to both terminals will cost another <strong>PLN 100 million<\/strong>. Road works, including the construction of roundabouts near <strong>ul. Radomska<\/strong> and the <strong>Trasa Unii Europejskiej<\/strong>, as well as the redevelopment of <strong>ul. Mazurska<\/strong>, are expected to start this year, with terminal works beginning in <strong>2027<\/strong>. All investments, as declared by <strong>Mayor Micha\u0142 Missan<\/strong>, are expected to be completed by <strong>October 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Multimodal Terminal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 \u201cWe focused on making the terminal <strong>multimodal<\/strong>, meaning it will have rail, road, and water transport, and also designed it to allow modular adaptation or changes depending on future needs in subsequent phases of the port expansion,\u201d says <strong>Micha\u0142 Missan, Mayor of Elbl\u0105g<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the redevelopment, the port quay will be able to <strong>accommodate four vessels simultaneously<\/strong>, each up to 100 meters long, 20 meters wide, and with a draft of up to 4.5 meters. Along the entire length of the quay, a <strong>rail siding<\/strong> will be installed, allowing goods to be loaded directly from ships onto wagons. A <strong>technical road<\/strong> will also be built for mobile cranes and road transport. The terminal is designed so that its <strong>technological functions can be easily adapted in the future<\/strong> without costly and time-consuming reconstructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 \u201cThis will allow the port to <strong>adapt efficiently to changes in trade and transport over the coming decades<\/strong>, maintaining its competitiveness and functionality. An important part of the concept is also the provision of areas for storing not only general cargo and bulk goods but also <strong>oversized loads<\/strong>.
