STAFF RESOURCES

The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn is a forge of staff and provides steady access to qualified personnel.

The region benefits from the excellent staff of a few thousand scientists (the University of Warmia and Mazury employs 2 thousand academic teachers and 13 faculties of the University have full academic rights, i.e. the right to confer PhD degrees). The University of Warmia and Mazury also offers 67 study courses.

Currently, the University structure consists of 15 faculties. In the academic year 2020/21, there are about 18 thousand students, including about 17 thousand full-time students, 600 PhD students, and about 1 thousand postgraduate students.

DEMOGRAPHIC DATA

Warmia and Masuria is a region with very good demographic indicators and a higher-than-state-average percentage of the population of working age.

The voivodeship is home to 1.41 million people, 60.7% of whom are of working age, 18.2% are of pre-working age, and 21.1% are of post-working age.

Beyond the age structure beneficial for employers, the region continues to register one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. As a result, the voivodeship has high workforce supply, primarily in the group of young people (18-34 years). At the end of December 2021, the unemployment rate amounted to 14.2% (the Polish average is 8.2%), and there were 73.1 thousand unemployed people registered with district unemployment offices, i.e. 12.5% less than in the same period of the previous year.

The region is very diverse in this respect. The society composing the labor market of Warmia and Masuria is young and professionally active – the largest labor market group consists of people aged 24-44; the rate of professionally active people is close to the national average, and equals 48.6% of the total population of the voivodeship.
